OceanHub Africa is accepting applications for Cohort 8 of its Acceleration Programme, a nine-month accelerator for scalable Blue Economy startups in Africa that already earn revenue and have a net-positive impact on the ocean. Applications close on 6 December 2026 (no time zone is given). Up to 10 startups will be selected, and OceanHub’s application page states that there is no fee and no equity.
For African founders, the useful question is whether your venture already meets the revenue and team tests. This call asks for proof of paying customers and a founding team of at least two, so it suits ventures that are past the prototype stage, not idea-stage projects.

Who can apply?
OceanHub’s Cohort 8 application page lists these requirements:
- A product or service already in the market, beyond the prototype stage.
- Provable commercial revenue. There is no minimum amount, but pilots and letters of intent alone do not count.
- A founding team of at least two founders with complementary skills.
- A clear ocean impact, measured with the Ocean Impact Navigator or equivalent metrics.
- Registration and activity in the Blue Economy or an adjacent sector.
- One team member available for weekly sessions, and a founder or executive able to attend the in-person bootcamp.
The page also mentions up to three exception seats for pre-revenue ventures with registered or pending intellectual property, and says only one is currently available. No specific countries are listed beyond Africa.
What does the programme offer?
OceanHub describes business, market, commercialisation and funding analysis, one-to-one coaching from Entrepreneurs in Residence, and introductions to funders. The application page adds weekly coaching from a dedicated Entrepreneur in Residence, a regional coach for West African and Francophone markets, an in-person bootcamp that ends with a pitch, and eligibility for OceanHub’s follow-on capital facilities. Participants cover their own travel to the bootcamp and showcase.
How to apply
- Read the programme page on OceanHub’s website.
- Open the Cohort 8 application page, which OceanHub links to, and complete the form. Incorporation documents are required. A pitch deck and financials are requested where available.
- Submit before 6 December 2026. OceanHub says it reviews applications on a rolling basis, so an earlier submission is safer.
- Expect an eligibility check and interviews. The top 20 are due to be notified between 18 and 20 December 2026, send a pitch deck and video by 18 January 2027, and pitch to a committee in February. The cohort is due to be announced on 15 February 2027.
Advice from the Africapreneurs team
- Prepare proof of revenue first. Invoices, bank records or customer contracts answer the central test, and pilots alone are explicitly not enough.
- Check the two-founder rule honestly. A solo founder with advisers does not meet the stated team requirement.
- Pick an impact metric before you write. OceanHub names the Ocean Impact Navigator, so showing how your results map to it or to an equivalent measure makes your claim easier to assess.
- Plan the bootcamp trip now. Confirm who from your team can travel in April 2027 and who can give time to weekly sessions.
